I just moved to the Albert area. I am an amateur bull rider and am looking for information on rodeos in Canada. Can anyone give me information?

talk to some of the locals and see what they have to say..

have you tried the bull rider simulator? It is so much fun and at the same time challenging. Better try it before riding an actual bull
Reply #3 Krea (63.176.159.76) -
Yes you should definitely try the bull rider simulator first before the real thing. It is a lot safer and a lot of fun rather than the real bull. I've seen some gruesome videos (I believe from Shocking or Amazing Videos) where a cowboy was violently been horned by a bull he's riding. Really scary and not to mention they are already professionals. Imagine if that happens to experts then what more to us amateurs?

Wow you guys are a total bull.... rider.

What is there to bull riding or even the mechanical bull riding that is so entertaining? I find it as a pointless to even waste time. Can you explain why you are enjoying riding those bulls (whether mechanical or the real thing)?

Contact either the Foothills, Lakeland, Wildrose or Chinook rodeo assoc. They are all on the internet.

The Cloverdale Rodeo, Canada's fifth-largest rodeo and event stop on the Canadian Rodeo Tour has decided to drop steer wrestling, tie-down roping, team roping and wild cow milking from its future events. The announcement came one day after animal rights activists stormed the arena and had to be removed. The Cloverdale Rodeo has been under increasing attack from the animal rights movement, and the death of a calf at this year's rodeo was a catalyst for the move to axe the 'cruel' events (or so says the anti-rodeo movement).

Take a look at this web page. Plenty of stuff, good luck!

He has himself indicated that he is an amateur. To me, it means he has given bull ridng a try. Why then would he try the stimulator when he has gotten a taste of the real thing? The locals would be best placed to advise you accordingly besides giving a schedule of events of some kind. Gilbert, why would you settle on the fifth rated rodeo event? Where are the others that lead in the category?

If it is so much of a favorite sport, you will hear rumors of when the next rodeo event is happening. If the locals do not let you into a calendar of events, keep your head up...you will stumble upon reliable advice and information.Rodeo events have been deemed be not respectful to the animal world and that could explain why certain sports have been dropped. All the best as you bull ride.

I agree with Moy, if you are really into bull riding or any kind of sports then you will hear it to some people if there is any event coming up, for they know you are inclined into such sports. However if unfortunately you are not informed by your kin hearted neighbor then it is time to browse the net for event and schedules. Net, net, net... everything falls into this...

Bull Riding is not your typical kind of special interest because not all people are into wrestling and hugging a real life bull or a mechanized one for their life. I have seen some tragic outcome of real life bull fighters and i don't find anything funny or entertaining about these accidents. This is what happened when a friend introduce me on the "sport" in one bull riding competition in Argentina.

So why bother challenge a charging bull. Ridding a pissed bull, what does it prove? Is there any practical application with such skills? I don't really get it all and its not really entertaining at all.

To Archibald, there are lots of Web Links that could help you become knowledgeable about bull riding. But learning the basics is very important. The attached Web Link discuss about the basics in bull riding. This might be of help to you.

Hi Archibald, i learned from your post that you are still an amateur. It is nice that you search for some bull riding in Alberta, but i think it would be best if you practice more first before yu try riding a bull on an event. You see, bull riding is not just like any other kind of sports and you need to be safe at all times. But you can try cespeta's post if you want.

I think i have to agree with peter. It is better if you do some practice first before you can actually do some bull ride, simply for safety reasons. But anyway, is also have to suggest that you try watching some rodeo show so you can learn more.
Yes, that is the best thing to do. Try to practice first so that you can do the rodeo more perfectly and to prevent accidents to. You would not want to fall from the back of the bull right?

I wonder if there are any local Rodeo's opening up in Trinidad and Tobago anytime soon. I wonder if anyone would go to such an event in my country.
You can practice Rodeo on bull rides just what other bars and carnivals have.

Well let us just hope so Eve, if people in your country would want to have some bull riding school in your community then I am sure there would be someone who will put up a bull riding school in your country. If ever that this thing happened, try to inform us all in this forum. We will be waiting for your response here, hope to hear from all of you soon.

Bull riding, I think I would not want to learn how to ride a fierce bull. And when I watch those people who fell from the ground and being crushed by the bulls, I think it is even silly to get close to those animals. But I think it is just a matter of interests by the people. If they are open to being hurt and being beaten then that is their problem.
