What exactly is English riding?

English riding is form or riding originating from Europe, though not necissarily England. The characteristics of this form of riding is noteable in the kind of saddle used, which has no horn and uses bar stirrups. Some of the sports cagegorized under English riding are: dressage, show jumping, and cross country. The Kentucky Three Day event is an excellent example of cross country riding.
